On Lava Rock
Modern Hawaiian House.

Modern Hawaiian house in a lava rock field smiling like a spring flower. It offers a unique view of the enchanting Hawaiian horizon above the Pacific Ocean.
This site was built on the big island of Hawaii in Kona. AD 100 was signed by Tom Kundig, architect of project firm Olson Kundig. The house has enough living space for a family of fifteen. The houses, which are the center of attention of seasonal visitors, offer a quality life with their unique views. He used wooden decorations in his design.

The architect used the features of Big Island style architecture in his project. Double pitched roofs provide a space with structures on their sides. It provides protection against sun, wind and tropical rain in open living areas.

There are three big rooms in the big building where you can spend time together. And connections that can be easily transmitted from this structure to other areas are planned. The design also allows for the separation of unused spaces.

Sliding wooden doors are preferred in the designs. It offers them seamless indoor and outdoor space. Like door designs, sliding windows are preferred and wide viewing areas are provided.

The garden was designed by Hilo-based landscape designers Tamura Associates and David Y and provided charming outdoor living spaces.

Kundig says it is the link between the gardens and living spaces that provides the importance of projects independent of their location. She says that this is the privileged luxury of living in this ideal climate. Therefore, open living spaces offer quality living spaces that are carefully decorated.
